Bus travel is a well-known mode of transport with Filipinos. Most bus passengers are from the lower class set since the rates are lower for far distances. A small number of the middle class take the bus to visit the Philippines' beach areas and other main attractions. It's much cheaper than taking a car, with local gas prices constantly going up. Most bus companies sell group packages, perfect for people on a backpacking journey or a business trip. Far off distance trips usually take at least four hours and have a stopover period of 30 minutes. Employ the break time to have your meal and use the bathroom.

Kinds of Buses
Three types of buses can be ridden in the Philippines. Pricing the highest but most comfortable to ride in are the private buses. Private buses are usually hired for large work outings and group tours. Charging a middle priced travel rate are the newly air conditioned buses. These air conditioned buses have a television and a DVD to prevent boredom. Most locals ride the older, non air conditioned buses when traveling to the province. Bus rides without a TV simply have a radio to keep everyone entertained. These non airconditioned buses have the lowest travel prices. The total bus fare is P 1 for every 1 km.

Bus travel is usually not dangerous around the Philippines. However, people need to still practice safety precautions during travel. Note the bus company's contact number and license plate. Give this information to a relative. During your trip, never showcase a big quantity of money or flash expensive jewels, gadgets, and other accessories. Locals and tourists alike have been victims of pickpockets, losing expensive quantities of cash and pricey gadgets. During lengthy trips, set aside coins and tiny bills in your pocket. To prevent drawing unsolicited interest, don simple clothing and do not overdress.
